Lenten Devotional: Wednesday, March 25, 2015

Jeremiah 29:11-14 “For I know the plans I have for you says the lord; plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then
you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You
will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found
by you,” declares the Lord, “and will bring you back from captivity. I will
gather you from all of the nations and places I have banished you,” declares the
Lord, “and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”Path-Home

I came to prison when I was 17 in 2002 right after I had given birth to my daughter. I
came without knowing when I would go home or if my grandparents were able to make
it with a newborn on their hands. Instead of lecturing me or resenting me, my grandparents
only told me to turn to God and he would bring me home. The card they sent
had this scripture on the front. I have never forgotten it.

Prayer: God, you know our comings and our goings. You know our past and our
future. Help us as we navigate an uncertain present and remind us of our certain and
eternal hope in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
